Coping with Dementia LLC provides training and education in person-centered compassionate care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. It pursues this objective through workshops, support groups, counseling, speaking, and writing through digital and print media.
Its founder and President, Debbie Selsavage, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, a Florida-licensed Memory Care Administrator, a Certified Independent Trainer and Consultant in Teepa Show’s Positive Approach to Care, a frequent guest on regional radio and television shows, and a regular columnist in several west-central Florida publications.

Coping with Dementia’s training for for-profit businesses and professional dementia care organizations as well as its consulting service are fee-based, but all of its family care partner workshops, training for nonprofits, support groups, and its public speaking are provided at no charge.

Since starting her company in 2015, Ms. Selsavage has facilitated more than 600 free care partner support groups, and Coping with Dementia has conducted training at no charge for more than 5,000 family care partners. It has trained and certified more than 60 churches and businesses as Dementia Friendly, and provided educational speaking to a combined audience of more than 6,000 individuals. She has written more than 100 columns for regional publications and in 2017 was named a Health Care Hero by the Citrus County Chronicle.
Coping with Dementia delivers a free on-line monthly newsletter containing news and care partner resources to a list of nearly 5,000 recipients.

Ms. Selsavage is a former President of the Alzheimer’s Family Organization and currently serves on the board of Dementia Education, Inc., a nonprofit based in Citrus County, Florida.
