Leslie Weiland graduated from Purdue University School of Nursing and also holds a degree in Healthcare Administration. She is a pioneer in the field of humor therapy after receiving one of the first grants to put humor into hospitals from Dr. Joel Goodman at The Humor Project. Her workshops have been provided in England, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, and across the United States. Leslie is the Founder of The Comedy Connection Smile Team, serving Pinellas County with therapeutic humor since 1989.

The Comedy Connection Smile Team is a Non-Profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to provide Education, Training, Performance, Research and Networking activities for those individuals who desire to become and are presently acting as Caring Clowns for hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice or other healthcare settings to relieve suffering and encourage healing.
